Talfourds Solicitors continue to support various Charities in the help to raise funds for special needs.

The Little Haven Children’s Hospice in Essex will be the nominated charity for 2005. We will assist to raise funds for the necessary support to offer specialist respite and terminal care for children and their families affected by life-limiting and life-threatening illness.

There are 30 independent Children's Hospices across the UK - Little Haven was the 13th to open. There are an estimated 20,000 children in the UK who suffer from genetic or congenital conditions, who will die before they reach adulthood. Children's Hospices offer expert respite, emergency, palliative and terminal care; bereavement support; advice and practical assistance.

Little Haven provides:

Support

The unique and valuable facility relies upon the generosity of public support, without which they cannot offer the care and dedication these children deserve.

To provide its full range of services, the hospice requires in excess of £1.4m per annum, a small proportion of this comes from a Health Authority grant, the remainder from charitable gifts and donations from people who wish to support the hospice.

The charity has a number of hospice shops, which generate regular income, as well as providing a service to the local community through the provision of good quality, second-hand donated items. In addition, they provide a listening ear to those in need, especially the bereaved, when they are donating the belongings of a loved one they have just lost.
