Clinicians sometimes make mistakes.
When those mistakes happen, whether they are due to negligent
surgery, wrong prescription of drugs or a misdiagnosis, somebody
gets hurt and in the worst cases, lives are lost.
Where a mistake is made compensation can be awarded. If a life changing event has resulted from medical mistake, compensation can be substantial.
It is important to understand that not every person who has a “poor result” from clinical procedures has a claim. Clinical/Medical negligence is a very complex area, and to prove a claim expert medical evidence is needed. Talfourds have built up substantial experience in accessing clinical negligence cases and obtaining the evidence in order to successfully pursue a claim.
Compensation for clinical accidents/medical mistakes
Compensation is awarded for the injury itself, and in addition the cost of medical or nursing care, in the most severe cases accommodation costs, and loss of earnings can be recovered. Compensation can never put right the physical effects of a medical mistake, but it can make it easier to deal with life afterwards.
